Permanent Tooth Replacement with Dental Implants in Woodstock, GA

Missing teeth affect more than your appearance — they impact how you eat, speak, and feel about yourself. Dental implants are the gold standard for tooth replacement, offering a permanent, natural-looking, and natural-feeling solution that can last a lifetime. At Dentistry of Olde Towne, we help Woodstock patients reclaim full, confident smiles with implant-supported restorations. Serving Cherokee County families since 1984.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as an artificial tooth root. Once the implant integrates with the bone through a natural process called osseointegration, a custom-made crown is attached on top — creating a complete tooth replacement that looks, feels, and functions virtually identically to a natural tooth.

Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple teeth, or even support full-arch restorations for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth.

Why Dental Implants Are the Superior Choice

Woodstock patients choose implants over traditional bridges and dentures for several compelling reasons:

  • Permanence — With proper care, dental implants can last 20 years or longer — often a lifetime
  • Natural look and feel — Implant crowns are crafted to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth in size, shape, and color
  • Bone preservation — Implants stimulate the jawbone just like natural tooth roots, preventing the bone loss that occurs with dentures and bridges
  • No impact on adjacent teeth — Unlike a bridge, implants do not require grinding down neighboring healthy teeth
  • Stability — No slipping, clicking, or adhesives required — implants are anchored firmly in the jaw
  • Easy maintenance — Brush and floss implants just like natural teeth; no special cleaning routines needed

Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Most adults in good general health who have sufficient jawbone density are candidates for dental implants. Ideal candidates are non-smokers with healthy gums and a commitment to good oral hygiene. Conditions such as diabetes, bone loss, or a history of smoking may affect candidacy but do not necessarily disqualify you — a thorough evaluation at our Woodstock office will give us the full picture.

The Dental Implant Process at Our Woodstock Office

The implant process typically unfolds over several months to allow for proper healing:

Consultation & Planning: We conduct a comprehensive exam, including 3D imaging, to evaluate your bone structure and create a precise treatment plan. In many cases, a we digitally design your implant placement and create a custom surgical guide to aid in precision and predictability of your procedure.

Implant Placement: The titanium implant post is surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. Most patients are comfortable during and after this procedure.

Osseointegration (Healing): Over the next three to six months, the implant naturally fuses with the surrounding bone, creating a strong, stable foundation.

Abutment & Crown Placement: Once fully integrated, an abutment connector is attached to the implant, and your custom-crafted crown is secured on top. The result is a complete, beautiful replacement tooth.

We are proud to serve implant patients from Woodstock, Canton, Holly Springs, Towne Lake, Ball Ground, and throughout North Georgia.

FAQ’s

Dental implants are designed to be a permanent, lifetime solution. With proper care and good oral hygiene, the titanium implant post itself can last a lifetime. The crown attached to the implant typically lasts 15 to 25 years before it may need to be replaced due to normal wear. Implants have one of the highest long-term success rates of any dental procedure — generally above 95% over 10 years — making them the most durable tooth replacement option available.

Most healthy adults with sufficient jawbone density are good candidates for dental implants. Ideal candidates are non-smokers with healthy gums who are committed to good oral hygiene. Conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, significant bone loss, or active gum disease may need to be addressed before implant placement. Smoking reduces implant success rates but does not always disqualify a patient. The best way to determine your candidacy is a comprehensive evaluation at our Woodstock office including a review of your medical history and 3D imaging.

The implant placement procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and most patients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable it is during the procedure. Afterward, some swelling, bruising, and mild soreness are normal and typically manageable with over-the-counter pain relievers. Most patients return to normal activities within one to two days. The discomfort associated with implant placement is generally described as less than a tooth extraction.

The full implant process typically takes anywhere from three to nine months depending on your individual situation. After the implant is placed, a healing period of three to six months is needed for osseointegration — the process by which the implant fuses with the jawbone. Patients who require bone grafting prior to implant placement will need additional healing time. Once fully integrated, the final crown is placed, completing your new tooth. We will outline a detailed timeline during your consultation at our Woodstock office.

The cost of dental implants varies depending on the number of implants, whether bone grafting is needed, and the type of restoration. While implants represent a higher upfront investment than bridges or dentures, their longevity and bone-preserving properties make them highly cost-effective over time. Many dental insurance plans provide partial coverage for implant-related procedures, and financing options are often available.
