Keep Your Smile Healthy with Professional Dental Cleanings in Woodstock, GA

Why Regular Dental Cleanings Matter

Even the most dedicated brushers and flossers benefit from a professional dental cleaning every six months. Plaque and tartar naturally build up in hard-to-reach areas that your toothbrush simply can’t address on its own. Left untreated, this buildup can lead to cavities, gum disease, and more serious systemic health concerns.

At Dentistry of Olde Towne, our experienced hygiene team uses the latest techniques to gently and thoroughly clean your teeth, leaving your smile fresh, bright, and protected.

FAQ’s

Most patients benefit from a professional dental cleaning every six months. However, patients with a history of gum disease, heavy tartar buildup, or certain health conditions such as diabetes may be recommended to come in every three to four months. At Dentistry of Olde Towne, we tailor your recall schedule to your individual oral health needs.

For most patients, a routine dental cleaning is completely comfortable. You may feel mild pressure or sensitivity during scaling, particularly if it has been a while since your last visit or if you have sensitive gums. Our hygiene team takes great care to work gently and will always adjust their approach if you experience any discomfort.

A regular (prophylaxis) cleaning removes plaque and tartar from above and just below the gumline and is appropriate for patients with healthy gums. A deep cleaning — also called scaling and root planing — is a therapeutic procedure that cleans significantly below the gumline to treat gum disease. Our Woodstock dental team will evaluate your gum health at each visit and recommend the appropriate level of care.

Many dental insurance plans cover preventive care, including routine cleanings, at or close to 100% with minimal out-of-pocket for you. Dentistry of Olde Towne accepts most PPO dental insurance plans and will work with your provider to maximize your benefits. Contact our Woodstock office and we’ll be happy to verify your coverage before your appointment.

Brush twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste, floss at least once a day, and rinse with an antimicrobial mouthwash if recommended by your hygienist. Avoid tobacco products, limit sugary and acidic foods and beverages, and stay hydrated. Our Woodstock hygiene team will provide personalized home care recommendations at every visit.
